Our client was facing a significant challenge with their roof lantern and sliding doors due to high heat buildup, making their living space uncomfortably warm, especially during sunny days. The south-facing orientation of the roof lantern and sliding doors allowed for an abundance of natural light but also led to excessive solar heat gain. The need for a solution that would address the heat issue without compromising the influx of natural light was critical.

Solution

After assessing the situation, the decision was made to apply External Silver 15 window film to the roof lantern and Silver 30 to the sliding doors. These films were chosen for their high reflective properties and effectiveness in reducing heat:

External Silver 15 for the Roof Lantern: This film’s higher reflectivity was ideal for the roof lantern, which was subject to the most direct and intense sunlight.

Silver 30 for the Sliding Doors: Offering a slightly less reflective finish, this film provided an optimal balance of heat control and natural light for areas that required visibility to the outside.

UV Protection: Both films also helped in blocking out harmful UV rays, protecting the interior furnishings from sun damage.

Glare Reduction: The films reduced the glare, improving comfort for the occupants.

Results

The application of External Silver 15 and Silver 30 window films led to several improvements:
